VoxScribe AI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the VoxScribe AI mobile application.
Information We Collect
Audio Data
When you use VoxScribe AI to record audio, the audio file is sent to third-party AI services for transcription processing. Audio files are:
- Processed in real time and not permanently stored on third-party servers
- Optionally saved on your device if you enable "Save audio recordings" in Settings
- Never shared with third parties for any purpose other than transcription
Transcribed Text
When you use AI formatting features (paid plans), your transcribed text is sent to Anthropic PBC for formatting. The text is:
- Used solely to generate your formatted output
- Not retained by Anthropic after processing
- Never used for model training or shared with other parties
Account Information
If you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Encrypted password (we never store plain-text passwords)
- Account creation date
Device Identifiers
Device identifiers are used solely for usage tracking and abuse prevention. No advertising data is collected.
Usage Data
We may collect anonymous usage statistics including:
- App features used
- Number of recordings made
- Language preferences
We do not collect personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
How We Use Your Information
- Transcription: Your audio recordings are sent to Groq Inc. (primary) or OpenAI Inc. (fallback) solely to produce text output via their Whisper speech-to-text models.
- AI Formatting: For paid plan users, transcribed text is sent to Anthropic PBC (Claude AI) solely to apply the formatting mode you select.
- Account management: Your email is used for authentication and account-related communications via Supabase.
- Subscription management: RevenueCat processes subscription transactions. Only anonymized transaction data is shared.
- Service improvement: Anonymized usage data helps us improve app performance and features.
Third-Party Services and Data Protection
VoxScribe shares data with the following third-party services. Each provider maintains privacy and security standards that provide the same or equal level of protection as described in this policy:

Data Storage
- Your transcription notes are stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage.
- Audio files are stored locally only if you have enabled the "Save audio recordings" option in Settings.
- We do not sync your notes or recordings to any cloud backend.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Data is shared only with the third-party services listed above, solely for the purposes described, and each provider is required to maintain the same or equal level of privacy protection as outlined in this policy.
Your Data Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Right to access: You may request information about what data we hold about you by contacting us.
- Right to deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings > Account Actions > Delete Account. Upon deletion, all server-side data is permanently removed.
- Right to export: Your notes and transcriptions are stored locally on your device and can be exported as PDF or TXT files from within the app.
- Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent for data sharing at any time by discontinuing use of the app.

Data Retention
- Audio recordings: Deleted immediately after transcription by Groq/OpenAI. Not stored on our servers.
- Transcribed text: Not retained by Anthropic after formatting. Stored locally on your device only.
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account. Upon deletion, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.
- Subscription data: Managed by RevenueCat. Removed upon account deletion.
Children's Privacy
VoxScribe AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
